

LE YU
Prof. Yu is currently the Professor and Programme Director of Percussion at the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Born in China, Prof. Yu has traveled around the world as a soloist, chamber musician, and professor. He has also enjoyed success in competitions including Gold Medal at China National Percussion Competition; the Winner of Italy PAS International Percussion Competition 2009 and the Yamaha European Scholarship Competition 2012. He has been awarded as a Young Artist of Philanthropy in China by UNESCO in 2019.
As a concerto soloist, Prof. Yu has premièred a number of concertos including Keiko Abe’s The Wave marimba concerto in Asia, the UK, and America. He has worked with Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, BBC Singers, and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.
Prof. Yu is also the Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK, where he was the Deputy Director of Percussion from 2019 until 2022. He is a Yamaha Artist, Sabian Artist, and a Signature Artist of Encore Mallet, Inc.
