DR. Austin Yip

Sought-after composer and interdisciplinary artist Austin Yip is renowned for his versatile approaches to artistic creation. His projects encompass writing and arranging music for prestigious organizations and companies, including the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), AUDI, United Overseas Bank, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Arts Festival, among others. Notable among his works is the chamber opera 'Por Por' (2022), commissioned and produced by Hong Kong Arts Festival's 'No Limits' initiative. 'Koto' (2019), commissioned by the Rosetta Contemporary Ensemble in Japan for a site-specific theatrical performance at the Kyoto Art Center, and 'Metamorphosis' (2016), commissioned by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, earned Yip the CASH Golden Sail Music Award (HK) in 2017. Yip, recognized as a MacDowell Fellow (as a Gardner & Vail Read Fellow), received the Hong Kong Arts Development Council's Award for Young Artist (Music) in 2021. He is also a recent recipient of the New Music USA Creator Fund.
