LOUIS SIU

The founder and artistic director of Toolbox Percussion, Louis Siu was the principal percussionist of the Macao Orchestra and one of the founding members of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. His orchestral appearances include concerts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

He currently serves as part-time instructor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Former percussionist of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Lei Lei Hoi is the recipient of Macao Foundation scholarship. She graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Carnegie Mellon University. She is holding teaching positions at the Macao Conservatory, the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Macau Youth Symphony Band.

Wan, graduated from the Colburn School in Los Angeles with his bachelor and master of Music. Previously studying at the Boston Conservatory with scholarship and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, he was trained under Shaun Tilburg (the former principal percussion of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), Sophia Woo, Alan Cumberland and later under Jack Van Geem (the former principal percussion of San Francisco Symphony).

Brian Chan

Former Toolbox Percussion associate artist, active player in overseas performance with Toolbox Percussion and recent graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, Chan has studied with world-renowned percussionists including Paul Patrick, percussion principal of BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Ian Wright, former timpani principal of Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been awarded the Friends Scholarship in Leeds College of Music. He performed with the Guangzhou Symphony, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia.

Jacky Lam

Former Toolbox Percussion associate artist, active player in overseas performance with Toolbox Percussion and undergraduate of music department in the Hong Kong Baptist University under the teaching of Ms. Sophia Woo, Lam has been appointed as the percussionist of Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Baptist University Wind Symphony, Hong Kong Band Directors Wind Orchestra and Hong Kong Baptist University Percussion Ensemble. Lam actively participated in exchange programme taken place at Macao Culture Centre Concert Hall and Kagoshima Central Concert Hall.

Timothy Sun

Active saxophone young artist in Hong Kong and Macau, he became the first Chinese saxophone and clarinet student of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under a full scholarship in 2001 and in 2006 completed his Master’s degree under a school scholarship. In recent seasons, Sun has appeared in more than 100 recitals and orchestral concerts in Asia and Europe. Timothy Sun is one of the artists of the “Buffet Crampon” and “Vandoren Paris” He is currently saxophone lecturer coach at the Macau Conservatory, Hong Kong Academy for performing arts and the Baptist University.

RE•Mix is a percussion duo comprised of renowned musicians Raymond Vong and Emily Cheng, both Master of Music graduates of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). Raymond and Emily currently serves as teaching faculty members of the HKAPA. In first stage, RE•Mix received very high acclaim with staging several performances on Bartok’s “Concerto for two Pianos and Percussion” in one of which they were invited by the Chopin Society of Hong Kong to perform in Hong Kong City Hall. For music education, they conducted workshops in schools for students and teachers to popularize percussion music.
