From January 6-12, 2020, the 2nd edition of Toolbox International Creative Academy (TICA) will return in Hong Kong, where we continue to explore Contemporary Performance Technique on Strings and Percussion with the focus of Classic American Composers. TICA is an annual event organised by Toolbox Percussion, Co-presented by the University of Oklahoma, with participants from all over the world. TICA's Percussion program is curated by David Herbert, Principal Timpanist of Chicago Symphony.
TICA's String program is led by Min-Jeong Koh of Cecilia String Quartet.
TICA's Composition program is overseen by Prof. Ken Ueno of UC Berkeley Music
TICA is supported by the Arts Capacity Development Funding Scheme HKSAR Government.

Toolbox International Creative Academy
Toolbox Percussion’s vision is trifold, from creating cutting-edge and innovative programmes that challenge artists and musicians; to collaborating with musicians around the world to enhance cultural exchange; and development of outreach and professional educational activities. TICA is a new initiative to research, commission, explore and perform contemporary music and enhance performance technique.
Every day there is an exciting and challenging schedule with masterclasses, workshops, lectures, chamber music, and private lesson, focusing on all aspects of contemporary strings and percussion. Additionally, top musicians from the world and TICA students will be playing together in several concerts and workshops on various occasions throughout the week.
Toolbox Percussion is delighted to present the Toolbox Percussion International Composition Competition 2019 (TPICC 2019) as a part of the Toolbox International Creative Academy (TICA), which will be held during 6 - 12 January 2020 in Hong Kong, China.
